Baba Rahman, on the heels of another injury-hit season, failed to secure a move before the (international) transfer window closed ten days ago, but he still has time to find a team in the Championship before that window shuts tomorrow.
Reports earlier claimed that both Middlesbrough and Watford were potentially interested in a loan move, and the former’s being linked again today by the Daily Mail — alongside another left back, Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose.
Boro manager Neil Warnock is having to deal with a small squad thanks to the financial constraints of the pandemic, and wants a new player who can play not only left full back but also wing-back and as the leftmost centre back in a back-three. Both Rahman and Rose could fit the bill, though the latter may not fit the club’s wage constraints, which could give the Chelsea man the inside track to join the Championship outfit.
That might be seen as a step back for a player who has only played top flight football since 2014-15 season (when fit), but it might be just what he needs to move further in his career, be that at Chelsea, where he has two years left on his contract, or with any other club.
