Matt Miazga is a name you might remember from his cup of tea with the team a few years ago, when he played a game and a half for Hiddink’s interim Chelsea in the season that shall not be named. Or you might remember him from the US Men’s National Team (18 caps), if they’re an outfit you follow. Or you might remember him from that one time he punched a dude on the football pitch. Don’t mess with New Jersey, Matt Lawrence!
In any case, Miazga is still on Chelsea’s books for another two years, so we get to do our annual check-in with him, and see where he’s going on loan this time.
According to Goal, this season’s destination is Belgium, Anderlecht specifically, currently managed by legendary center back Vincent Kompany. Anderlecht had to wait to agree the deal because of an injury that Miazga had been carrying, but apparently everything’s set to go now.
Matt Miazga is close to joining Anderlecht on a season-long loan. Vincent Kompany has been a key part in convincing the US Men's NT defender to join. More on @GoalNews soon. #CFC

This will be Miazga’s fifth season away on loan, and fourth different loan-team. He had spent two pretty good years at Vitesse and another good 18 months at Reading, sandwiching a rather not good 6 months at Nantes in 2018.
Until next summer then, Captain Miazgamerica!
