Score one for Gedson Fernandes’s agent. Barely 24 hours after a random report appeared out of nowhere linking his client with a potential move to Chelsea, West Ham managed to push over the line their long-standing negotiations with Benfica to secure an agreement for the highly rated 20-year-old midfielder.
At least that’s what Sky are reporting, having now surely made their money on the side through SkyBet, cashing in on gullible fans’ hopes and desires who like to waste their money betting on such nonsense.
BREAKING: West Ham agree deal in principle to sign Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes on 18-month loan with no option or obligation to buy.
— Sky Sports News (@SkySportsNews) January 9, 2020
Since it’s a deal “in principle”, there are still things that could go wrong. It could be hijacked. Personal terms could prove troublesome. West Ham could be gazumped. You’re welcome for the free storylines, Sky Sports and/or Mr Agent. Not that you need me to tell all y’all how to milk this situation for everything it’s worth.
That said, West Ham supposedly getting a player with apparently such great potential for practically nothing — an 18-month loan with no further built-in options or clauses — is nothing to scoff at.
I’m sure Gedson is absolutely chuffed to be playing for ... David Moyes?
