The latest transfer rumor from The “We won’t bring you rumours, just what is really happening and why it’s happening” Athletic is that while Chelsea have found the Timo Werner release clause we had been searching for since the start of the transfer window — just €50m, which is an absolute bargain these days — it’s not going to do us any good at the moment.

Neither Werner nor RB Leipzig “will agree to a move mid-season”, claim the non-rumor-peddling rumor-peddlers.

While the Bundesliga’s second leading goalscorer (just one behind Robert “addicted to scoring goals” Lewandowski) is still expected to leave the current league leaders in the summer, apparently any potential suitor will actually have to wait until then to begin negotiations — so no Pulisic-style deal of a winter purchase agreement for a summer move.

This, like most other rumors surrounding Chelsea these days, will need some patience from all concerned.
