According to a shocking report yesterday from Sky in Germany (via Sky in England), Borussia Dortmund intend to do the unthinkable, the unfathomable, the absolutely outrageous, and not sell Jadon Sancho in January. DESPITE plenty of interest from various teams in England, including Chelsea. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?! The cheek of them. How dare they.
Following a somewhat rough start to the season, Sancho had been on absolute fire before the Bundesliga’s winter break, scoring in seven straight games in all competitions and helping to rekindle BVB’s somewhat faltering top-four challenge. While they remain seven points off the top — [double-checks notes ... Red Bull Leipzig???] — they are in good position to qualify for the Champions League as we head into the second-half of the season.
When things weren’t going so well at Signal Iduna Park, Sancho’s move back to England seemed like a real possibility this winter. Clearly, now that won’t be happening before the summer. Chelsea are still well positioned to make a run at the 19-year-old’s signature should we so choose; we just have to stay patient (i.e. no Zaha) and play the long game.
