Chelsea ‘keen to tempt’ Bayern Munich lifer David Alaba to Stamford Bridge — report

#SillySeason

FC Bayern Muenchen Doha Training Camp - Day 1

David Alaba, who somehow’s still just 27 years old despite being around seemingly forever, has just 18 months left on his current Bayern Munich contract, and negotiations over an extensions must not be going too well apparently because he’s being linked with an audacious, ambitious, non-sensical move to Chelsea.

This one’s a Mirror special, so break out the big salt from the cupboard. Heavy duty dose of grains required, to say the least.

The red top speculators claim that Chelsea are “keen to tempt” the man who’s called Bayern home since 2008, when he was just 16, to Stamford Bridge this month, and are willing to throw £60m at the temptation. I have no idea if that’s a realistic price for one of the best left backs in the world, but it doesn’t sound too outlandish given the current state of transfer fee inflation.

What does sound far too outlandish is Alaba playing for any other team than Bayern, at least until he’s old and decrepit and can barely run.

But the rumor’s here and is making the rounds, so we might as well dream for a minute and consider this fantasy move. (And then we can go back to waiting for the Ben Chilwell sweepstakes.)
