According to a report from ESPN, Chelsea will be seeking the signatures of Ajax attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech — who is also a target for Manchester United — and Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell in the summer, two names who should need little introduction at this point.
Ziyech has scored again Chelsea, while Chilwell especially has featured extensively in the rumor mill this month already — though the Blues have been linked mostly with options at centre forward, such as Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani or ... Napoli’s Dries Mertens? That’s a new name thrown in there by ESPN, although it’s little more than fluff thanks to Napoli’s ridiculous supposed asking price of £40 million for the 32-year-old.
With Chelsea looking ever more likely to not make any moves in January, planning for a successful and smart summer transfer window (especially after the recent spate of questionable acquisitions) becomes ever more imperative — lest we fall even further behind in that regard, as head coach Frank Lampard recently warned as well.
