Inter to finally secure Giroud signing with Politano set to depart for Napoli — report

For real this time?

The Olivier Giroud to Inter Milan transfer has swung back and forth so many times that it’s becoming hard to determine its position if we check the momentum of the rumors (Schrödinger’s smiling from the grave).

On a more serious note, the story appears to have reached its final pages as Inter Milan appear to have agreed a deal with Napoli to offload Matteo Politano.

It’s worth noting that another one of Conte’s surprising (weird?) targets back in the day, Fernando Llorente was supposed to make the corresponding switch to the Don’s club, but with Dries Mertens getting injured, Llorente is staying put at Napoli.

Not that Inter will be too miffed about it, since their original target, World Cup-winning Olivier Giroud is still available. Inter have apparently restarted final talks with Olivier’s entourage now that they have managed to get Politano’s wage off their books. With Politano expected to join Napoli in the next few days, Giroud should be departing from London soon.

Hopefully, this already long drawn-out saga will reach its climax soon and we can all go back to the mundane task of actually watching football.
