According to the Times, Chelsea have made a loan offer for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani for the remainder of the season.
Despite his enormous wages, set at £360,000+ per week, the Blues are willing to bite the (financial) bullet to (finally) get Cavani to Stamford Bridge. On top of that, Chelsea would pay a £5 million loan fee to PSG, thus pushing his total cost to £12.2 million for a half-season of service.
However, with Cavani's contract expiring at the end of the season, PSG would most likely would want something more than just a loan fee to let him go. They have slapped a high transfer fee of somewhere between £17m (according to Eurosport France, via Inside Futbol) and £23m (as per the Times) on him, after already rejecting an £8.5m bid from Atlético Madrid, which promoted Cavani to submit a transfer request.
The push for Cavani might be worth it in light of Tammy Abraham’s potential injury that might take him out of action during a crucial moment of the season. Perhaps fifth time is the charm when it comes to fulfilling long-time dreams with strikers at Chelsea!
