Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud’s transfer to Inter Milan is only lacking the final few details, signatures, and medicals after the two clubs apparently found an agreement over a transfer fee in the last 24 hours.
According to various reports in Italy, including Sky Italia, the final price is €4.5m plus €1m in unspecified add-ons and bonuses.
Giroud already agreed terms on a 2.5-year contract last week, but the two teams were apparently still a fair ways apart on the transfer fee at the time. Inter were hoping to pay only €4m while Chelsea were demanding €10m.
It would appear that Inter have won out in the end, which isn’t too surprising considering Chelsea’s weak negotiating position for a wantaway player with just six months left on his contract, who was pretty much let go by the head coach already.
Sky guesstimate that Giroud will be heading down shortly for a medical, with official announcements possibly to follow this weekend.
