UPDATE: It’s official! Gallagher’s back training with Chelsea, but probably not for too long.
The club can confirm that Conor Gallagher has been recalled from his season-long loan by his parent club @ChelseaFC

PREVIOUSLY:
Apparently Charlton Athletic’s pleadings (from both their Director of Football and their head coach) have fallen on deaf ears, at least if Football.London’s “exclusive” report is to be believed, which claims that Chelsea are “set to recall” Conor Gallagher and then send him back out again to a better team for the second-half of the season.
Conor Gallagher's time at Charlton Athletic is set to come to an end in the coming days. Chelsea to recall the midfielder with a view to sending him out elsewhere on loan for the rest of the season. Full story here: #cfc https://t.co/OLkYz4U1C3

Should that come to pass, it would be the natural conclusion to all the recent rumors around the 19-year-old, who’s been one of the best players in the Championship and is thus wanted by a veritable who’s who of promotion chasers, plus a few others from elsewhere.
Football.London’s report does reduce the previous list of seven to five, claiming that West Brom, Swansea, Millwall, and QPR are all still interested, while Glasgow Rangers are keeping tabs still as well. Swansea have recently added Marc Guéhi on loan from the Chelsea Academy, so perhaps they have an advantage over the others.
It’s still unclear what Gallagher himself may or may not be thinking, and whether he’d prefer to continue building on the good thing at Charlton under Lee Bowyer, or go with the parent club’s recommendation and look for a new challenge (that could conceivably help his first-team ambitions a bit better?).
Stay tuned.
