Michy Batshuayi gets linked with Anderlecht, emphatically denies the rumour

Fighting silliness with silliness!

As we enter peak Silly Season, why not combat it more silliness?

That is what Michy Batshuayi has done earlier today. The Chelsea striker finds himself in a difficult situation at Chelsea, getting very few minutes on the pitch as Tammy Abraham continues to impress at the centre-forward position. And he was a prime candidate for a loan move because of this predicament.

According to France Football, Belgian club Anderlecht appeared as candidates for his signature on deadline day. However, Michy was clearly not having any of it.

Perhaps the French magazine are not completely wrong in their report, but this does sound a bit too far even amidst the craze of summer deadline day. It was only a few months ago when Michy was enjoying a fruitful partnership right next to Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha in a half-season loan deal at the Premier League; and moving back to Belgium would be a major step-back for a player like him.

That combined with reports claiming Chelsea only had plans to loan out three players (Baba Rahman, Kenedy and Lucas Piazon) today, it might be the case that Michy is here to stay and fight for chances under Lampard’s guidance. At least until the next transfer window...
