Kenedy takes medical ahead of loan move to Getafe — report

It’s getting closer!

According to a report from Sky Sports, Chelsea attacker Kenedy is taking a medical in Spain as he nears a season-long loan move to La Liga club Getafe.

Kenedy was given chances to shine during preseason under Frank Lampard in July and August, but it seems that he was not able to impress the new Chelsea head coach in these opportunities. Since the beginning of the season, he was only included in our match squads twice — in the UEFA Super Cup against Liverpool, and the opening Premier League game versus Manchester United.

The 23-year-old was also linked with Italian club Sassuolo, who acquired former Chelsea Academy midfielder Jeremie Boga last summer. However, the links have since dwindled, with Getafe emerging as the likeliest destination for Kenedy.

A move to Spain should serve well for Kenedy, who is looking to regain the form from his first half-season at Newcastle on loan. While it might not be as ideal as staying in the Premier League, it is also not much of a set-back for someone who showed in previous times that he has the tools and skills to succeed at the highest level in England.
