UDPATE:
As per Matt Law, there have been “a series of fallouts” this week — How on Earth if the squad had two days off??! — and this is very much a real thing.
Bit more detail emerging on Luiz
— Matt Law (@Matt_Law_DT) August 7, 2019
- He did not train with the Chelsea first team on Wednesday
- There have been a series of fall-outs surrounding him this week
- He has made it clear he wants to go
- Arsenal are interested
- Wowzers
PREVIOSLY:
Given Chelsea’s transfer ban, one would be tempted to believe that we would be spared the usual bits of Deadline Day silliness. It would appear that one would be very wrong however.
According to reports from France in the last hour, David Luiz has “refused to train” with Chelsea and is trying to “force a move” to ... wait for it ... Arsenal! L’Equipe claim that while David Luiz is a “man of character”, he’s somehow decided to join Arsenal to help them replace Laurent Koscielny.
David Luiz refused to train with Chelsea today in a bid to force a move to Arsenal, according to Hugo Delom. https://t.co/axowWGg06p

Does this make any sense? Nope!
Does that matter? Not in the final 24-48 hours of Silly Season!
We might recall that David Luiz returned to Chelsea in 2016 in a similar whirlwind fashion, though that one made some sense at least. Now that Chelsea broke club rules to sign him to a multi-year contract extension despite being over 30, and given that he looks set to play a big role under Frank Lampard as well, just as under Sarri, it surely makes absolutely no sense that he’d want to leave.
And especially for Arsenal? I mean, what the [FUN] ever, Geezer?
And yet, here we are.
As per reports from France, I'm told David Luiz refused to train with Chelsea today and wants to move to Arsenal. I don't think Arsenal have made a formal bid yet

David Luiz didn't show up for training and it is widely believed to be down to Arsenal's interest in signing him. Did you think transfer ban Chelsea was going to stay out of the headlines on #DeadlineDay? #CFC

David Luiz is among options Arsenal working on for centre-back - delicate but not for 1st time (see 31/01/18) #AFC keen. Kieran Tierney remains a target, Eddie Nketiah still deciding but likely Leeds, Alex Iwobi will happen IF Everton make suitable offer #EFC #LUFC #CFC #CelticFC
