UDPATE:

As per Matt Law, there have been “a series of fallouts” this week — How on Earth if the squad had two days off??! — and this is very much a real thing.

PREVIOSLY:

Given Chelsea’s transfer ban, one would be tempted to believe that we would be spared the usual bits of Deadline Day silliness. It would appear that one would be very wrong however.

According to reports from France in the last hour, David Luiz has “refused to train” with Chelsea and is trying to “force a move” to ... wait for it ... Arsenal! L’Equipe claim that while David Luiz is a “man of character”, he’s somehow decided to join Arsenal to help them replace Laurent Koscielny.

Does this make any sense? Nope!

Does that matter? Not in the final 24-48 hours of Silly Season!

We might recall that David Luiz returned to Chelsea in 2016 in a similar whirlwind fashion, though that one made some sense at least. Now that Chelsea broke club rules to sign him to a multi-year contract extension despite being over 30, and given that he looks set to play a big role under Frank Lampard as well, just as under Sarri, it surely makes absolutely no sense that he’d want to leave.

And especially for Arsenal? I mean, what the [FUN] ever, Geezer?

And yet, here we are.
