Danny Drinkwater was a big thing towards transfer deadline day in 2017 — unfortunately, as it turns out — and now he looks to be one of the few Chelsea names to feature this year as a proper chase appears to be developing for his (loan) signature. With Chelsea living our best #TransferBanLife, trying to move Drinkwater on could be the biggest story this week.

According to the Daily Mail, a new suitor has emerged for the 29-year-old midfielder, Burnley Football Club. Sean Dyche is said to be wanting to add depth to his midfield as they look to return to at least midtable mediocrity from last year’s relegation fighting experience that was only turned around in the second half of the season.

Burnley are the third team to be linked with Drinkwater in the last few days, with fellow Premier League survivors Brighton & Hove Albion as well as newcomers Norwich City all looking for potential loan deals for the man once again on the outside looking in at Stamford Bridge.

Let’s hope one of these avenues of interest do in fact work out before the transfer window closes on Thursday — whatever it might take in terms of wage relief subsidies, even.
