According to the Daily Mail, Norwich have become the ‘latest’ team to perk up with interest in Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater, after Brighton & Hove Albion supposedly registered interest this week — though the Brighton interest is described as “tentative” at best with alternatives being considered already.
Norwich themselves have several others feelers out as well, including to Watford for former Chelsea midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah, but Drinkwater remains a “target” for the Canaries as they hope to stay in the Premier League after achieving promotion from the Championship last season.
Drinkwater arrived at Chelsea in 2017, but has not done much to show why the club invested £35m to sign him from Leicester City. With barely 30 minutes of semi-competitive action under his belt in the last twelve months, despite being fit and available throughout last season, surely it’s in everyone’s best interest to figure out some sort of transfer, loan or otherwise, to get him playing again. It would appear that there is still a market for him in the Premier League, so let’s get it done before the transfer window shuts later this week.
Hurry up!
