Michy Batshuayi has registered a grand total of zero minutes for Chelsea this season so far, and has not even been selected for the bench in two of our three Premier League matches. While he scored a fine brace for the Chelsea Development Squad against Liverpool U23 last week, he has not come close to featuring for the first-team and remains firmly rooted as the third-choice striker behind Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud.
While Frank Lampard insists publicly that Michy is needed to provide competition in training at lest, his situation lends itself to plenty of transfer speculation. For example, journalist Dario Sarnataro, speaking on Radio Marte, has claimed that Chelsea have offered Michy Batshuayi on loan to Napoli, with a potential option to buy at the end of the season included as well. Furthermore, Chelsea have also apparently offered to cover part of Michy’s wages.

Michy is said to be interested in playing in Italy and AS Roma have emerged as another team potentially interested in his services. With less than a week remaining in their transfer window, Napoli have their sights on exiled Inter striker Mauro Icardi and free agent Fernando Llorente as well. But Batshuayi’s presumed dissatisfaction with his current situation could lead to a deal being fast-tracked before September 2.
