Chelsea Loan Army left back Baba Rahman’s future remains shrouded in mystery, but his agent appears to be hard at work in generating interest. As per a story from Spanish newspaper AS, Italian outfits Fiorentina and Inter Milan, as well as Dutch side Ajax, are interested the 25-year-old. These follow reported, but unrequited interest from Olympique Marseille, as well as a couple other teams in France. Two unnamed Spanish teams are supposedly interested as well.
Baba spent the first half of last season at Schalke 04, continuing an 18-month loan spell initiated at the start of the 2017-18 season. But after barely a handful of appearances, even after fully recovering at long last from the devastating knee injury suffered in January 2017, he returned to Chelsea in the winter transfer window. He was then sent out on loan once again, this time heading to Ligue 1 club Stade de Reims.
At Reims, Baba had a pretty solid six months. His 11 appearances for the club included a very impressive performance against Paris Saint-Germain on the last day of the season, where he scored a goal and assisted another in a 3-1 victory over the Parisian giants.
Given how we’re not all that keen on retaining a player who has just one year left on his contract, AS reports that Chelsea might be willing to accepted a “reduced” transfer fee for the once highly promising youngster from the Bundesliga.
