Callum Hudson-Odoi is “believed to be close” to signing his new long-term £100k per-week Chelsea contract after holding talks with new head coach Frank Lampard this week, and receiving assurances that have him “increasingly convinced” that his dreams can be realized at the club.

Both Lampard and Hudson-Odoi were seen leaving Stamford Bridge on Wednesday ahead of Thursday’s official announcement of Lampard’s appointment, though rumors had already posited Lampard’s arrival as a positive factor in Chelsea trying to convince Hudson-Odoi to sign and stay. The 18-year-old is currently rehabbing an Achilles injury at Cobham — while Chelsea have jetted off to Dublin for the week — but is expected to return to full training by next month.
His quicker than initially expected recovery has brought Bayern Munich back into the picture as well, but it would appear that the “Lampard Effect” is making its strong presence felt here, too. Once recovered, Hudson-Odoi will surely have a big part to play in Chelsea’s post-Hazard era.
