Chelsea loanee Nathan’s situation at Atlético Mineiro still undefined — report

No response from Chelsea after attempts to extend his stay at the Brazilian club

According to UOL, Chelsea attacking Nathan does not know whether he will be allowed to stay at Atlético Mineiro, after reaching the end of his loan deal with the Brazilian club on June 30th.

In the last few months, Nathan managed to turn around his fortunes at the club after not getting many chances to shine in the first half of his one-year loan spell. Before the mid-season break in the Brazilian League due to the ongoing Copa América, he had become a rotational player for manager Rodrigo Santana, who is one of his biggest “backers” within Atlético.

But despite Atlético’s intentions to retain Nathan at least until the end of the year, which is shared with the player himself, Chelsea have yet to answer them. As per the report, the club have been busy with handling Frank Lampard’s arrival as the new head coach at Stamford Bridge, which apparently has left no time to deal with (relatively) minor issues such as Nathan’s loan.

Since his contract with Atlético is over, Nathan is no longer their player. But there is still time to correct that before they return to the pitch, as the mid-season break will end on July 10th. By then, they’re hoping that Chelsea can find a bit of time to take care of this win-win situation.
