Callum Hudson-Odoi’s future remains shrouded in mystery, and things don’t look to be changing anytime soon beyond the constant will he/won’t he reporting.
While many reports paint a positive picture in terms of Hudson-Odoi staying for the long-term, most reports from Germany have consistently stuck to their story that Bayern Munich will eventually get their man. One recent exception is the Munich-based regional newspaper Die Abendzeitung, who proclaimed that Callum will be staying in London.
For now.
The report is convinced that Bayern’s chances of acquiring Hudson-Odoi are non-existent for the time-being. They appear to base this belief on unspecified English sources/reporting, though as before, the only way anyone will be absolutely sure is if Callum signs his new contract.
Callum Hudson-Odoi will not leave Chelsea to join Bayern, at least not this summer - Sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić has no chance to sign his wish player for the time being. Bayern’s director of football, Hasan Salihamidžić, has persistently stated that they remain interested, and this weekend’s report of a potential £45m bid underlines this. Bayern of course are also looking at other options, including Dynamo Zagreb’s Dani Olmo, after the Leroy Sane idea fell through. If they do buy another winger, then Hudson-Odoi would arguably face more competition than currently at Chelsea, especially as Willian and Pedro are both the wrong side of 30 and may leave next summer. The main argument as to why the 18-year-old should leave for greener pastures would therefore be void.
Thankfully, Frank Lampard’s recent quotes on the player’s future and Callum’s teasing on social media do seem slightly encouraging from a Chelsea perspective; however, both parties need to finally walk the walk. With the long-term contracts for Loftus-Cheek and Mount sorted, this really needs to not drag on even longer than it already has.
Get it done, Chelsea and Callum!
