It’s been a blissfully quiet summer in terms of transfer rumor nonsense thanks to the FIFA transfer ban and thanks to Eden Hazard sorting out his Real Madrid move very early, but the one annoying situation that has so far refused to go away is Callum Hudson-Odoi and Bayern Munich.
With the youngster getting closer to returning from his injury but still not under contract beyond this season, and Bayern still looking for some fresh blood on the wings — and still talking uninhibitedly about not one of their players — it’s not entirely surprising that the rumor mill has circled around to this thing again. Frank Lampard may have said all the right things regarding the Chelsea Academy’s brightest star, but until the new contract is actually signed, none of the talk will matter much.
And until the situation remains unresolved, we’ll probably keep seeing things like the Mail claiming that Bayern are “preparing” a new £45m bid for the 18-year-old. That would be a bigger bid than any of their previously rumored bids, so that’s something. Chelsea of course have made it clear in the past that we’d rather take a complete loss on Callum than accept a Bayern bid, so that’s something, too.
In any case, if we can just sort out of that new Chelsea contract, that’d be grand.
HAS IT LOADED YET?
