PSG ‘weighing up’ Bakayoko, Gueye options — reports

Looking for ‘clever’ signings

Tiémoué Bakayoko may be part of the Chelsea squad at the moment, but his future seems far from assured. Having already been linked with PSG despite supposedly making Chelsea the “priority”, the 24-year-old has recently been back in the Parisian rumor mill, although it’s all a bit vague.

Today, Goal’s Nizaar Kinsella is running with a story of PSG “exploring” a potential move for the midfielder, but just as a loan with an option to buy, which is an epidemic that seems to be on the rise. There isn’t much detail beyond that, regarding either motivation or methodology.

Fortunately, a couple days ago, RMC and Le Parisien (via Sport Witness) were running very similar stories, which explain that PSG’s interest is “credible” but they are looking for “clever” deals due to a more “limited” summer spending budget. Not sure why that may be the case — bet they could raise plenty by selling Neymar! — but more pertinently, Le Parisien also claim that PSG’s focus is actually on Everton’s Gana Gueye as far as midfielder reinforcements go. Interest in Bakayoko could of course “grow” in the next few weeks — especially after Lampard decides how he wants to handle the whole situation.

So there we have it. What have we learned? Not much. But Bakayoko managed to put in one of the worst shifts against St Pats of any Chelsea player, so he’s got that going for him.
