Real Madrid’s “10-year pursuit” of Eden Hazard is set to be ending, and the man himself is set to be well compensated for keeping them waiting for this long.
According to multiple reports, including from the Evening Standard, Hazard is set to double his wages from about £200k to £400k weekly. That certainly sounds impressive but Chelsea were reportedly offering upwards of £350k to get him to sign an extension earlier this year. Clearly, the move wasn’t about money.
As long-time friend Christian Benteke recently revealed, Hazard has had Real Madrid as a long-term goal for at least 10 years as well, though I suppose that’s something we had known from the very beginning when his Chelsea move was immediately labeled a “stepping stone”. Seven years of stepping stone-ing!

The White House?! Eden Hazard for President of the United States!
Fortunately, that’s not one of the bonus clauses included in his transfer, which could reach upwards of €130m/£130m (depending on report), all told — and without involving Mateo Kovačić!
As per Marca (via Sport Witness), the €30m/£40m+ in bonuses will be dependent on matches played, trophies won, and personal achievements such as winning the Ballon d’Or.
We believe in you, Eddie!
#Hazard will double his wages at Real Madrid to £400,000-a-week and become one of their highest earners. #cfc insisted that talks over #Kovacic were not included as part of deal despite Real Madrid's best efforts to do so. More here: https://t.co/bYX44M2IuN
