Chelsea reject €25m Bayern lowball for Callum Hudson-Odoi — report

NO MEANS NO, BAYERN!

Yesterday, the Mirror reported in vague terms that Chelsea had rebuffed the latest Bayern Munich approach for Callum Hudson-Odoi, which arrived on the heels of Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić confirming their continuing interest in the 18-year-old.

Germany’s Bild has a bit more detail on that approach, including a number. They claim that the latest approach came in the form of a €25m bid.

No, seriously.

Pretty hilarious.

Obviously, this was then rejected straight away.

Bild then go on to claim that Hudson-Odoi’s “still interested” in signing for Bayern (hilarious, again) but acknowledge that Chelsea are trying to get the youngster to sign a 5-year extension and that Lampard really likes him as well (presumably a good thing).

But while German sources insist on that fable, Chelsea Twitter appears to know better. Who will win the battle of ITKs? Only time can tell.

IN THE RED CORNER:

IN THE BLUE CORNER:

The crux of the Hudson-Odoi issue was playing time, but surely by the time the Achilles injury ended his season early, that issue had largely been mitigated. Hudson-Odoi had become part of the first-choice starting eleven and his emergence was one of the big reasons for the turnaround after February. With Lampard set to become the new manager, bringing Jody Morris in tow back with him, that trend should continue, if not accelerate even more.

Hopefully Hudson-Odoi can see that as well and puts pen to paper on the new contract so we can be done with this Bayern nonsense once and for all.
