According to multiple reports including all sources worth paying attention to (Guardian, Telegraph, Gianluca Di Marzio, plus Alfredo Pedullà dancing his victory jig once again), Chelsea and Juventus have reached a final final final FINAL agreement over the transfer of head coach Maurizio Sarri.
Incidentally (and probably not coincidentally), this is just in time for his official announcement on Friday, a date that has been kept open by Juventus on purpose for some time now.
Earlier reports claimed that the transfer might happen for free, but that appears to not be the case. While Chelsea were certainly not going to sack Sarri, we also weren’t about to just give him away. The reported initial fee varies from £2.5 million (Guardian) to £5 million (Telegraph), with bonuses that could take the whole transaction up to £8 million.
So that should be a wrap for Sarri at Stamford Bridge. Thanks for the seasono!
As for Chelsea’s future, all signs point towards Frank Lampard. He certainly won’t be an appointment without risk, but then again, what managerial appointment ever is?
And as widely expected, Frank Lampard will replace Sarri at Chelsea
