Torino FC may have failed to qualify for European football, but their 7th place finish was the best in some time and thus they remain undeterred in their intention to activate the buy-option in the loan contract of Chelsea full back Ola Aina, who was key to those efforts.
This was confirmed by their president Urbano Cairo last weekend, and now has been “formalized”, as per a report from Gianluca Di Marzio. It’s not quite clear what that means, but it would appear that the €10m buy-option has now been exercised and the rest is just an administrative formality.

Torino are certainly getting an excellent deal here on the 22-year-old Chelsea Academy graduate who’s been utilized on both flanks of Walter Mazzarri’s typical wing-back system, making 32 appearances in all competitions, including 22 Serie A starts.
While this makes the whole situation with Davide Zappacosta, whom Aina has effectively replaced at Torino, all the more sillier, hopefully we’ve learned our lesson and won’t make a similar mistake with someone like Reece James.
