Hazard to be unveiled at Real Madrid on June 3 — report

Subject to change if any setbacks emerge

According to Spanish newspaper AS (via Sport Witness), the date set by Real Madrid to reveal Eden Hazard as their newest signing is June 3rd, which is next Monday.

Obviously, this isn’t set in stone, especially as this is now about the fifth report of a very specific announcement date. AS cut themselves some leeway by talking about potential setbacks — i.e. Real Madrid not paying Chelsea’s full asking price.

In the meantime, Eden’s family are reportedly already staying in a hotel in Madrid to explore the city and look for a new home. Hazard himself will be there this weekend as well, to at least attend the Champions League final, which will be played at Atlético Madrid’s home ground, Wanda Metropolitano.

Either way, Hazard seems to have his heart set on joining Real Madrid, at long last, and playing under childhood idol Zinedine Zidane. As he promised, he ended the season on a high note, putting on a show and leading Chelsea to a 4-1 thrashing of Arsenal in the Europa League final.

As far as final acts go, we’ve seen plenty worse. Now we wait for the suits to figure out the rest.
