Bayern see Manchester City’s Leroy Sané as new alternative to Hudson-Odoi — report

Bayern need reinforcements and they need them now

According to German magazine kicker (via Get German Football News), Bayern Munich are considering an approach for Manchester City attacker Leroy Sané, as yet another alternative to Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Hudson-Odoi’s Achilles injury suffered back in April prompted Bayern to start making alternate plans in earnest, even as president Uli Hoeneß said that they would continue to monitor the Chelsea wonderkid. Earlier this month, Bayern were linked with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Ante Rebic. And now, they are reportedly looking at Sané as a player who could help fill the void left by the departures of legendary wingers Franck Ribéry and Arjen Robben.

Sané had a very good season for City with 16 goals and 18 assists recorded in 46 appearances across all competitions. However, he was far from a regular starter for Guardiola, especially during their final stretch of the season as City waltzed to a domestic Treble.

The 23-year-old would not come for cheap by any means, and Bayern have set themselves a hard upper limit of €80m for any given player. But they also know that they need a big summer to stay ahead of the chasing pack in the Bundesliga and an established superstar like Sané could be a wiser investment than any teenager.

So, this could certainly bode well for Chelsea and our quest to extend Hudson-Odoi’s contract beyond the end of next seaosn. If Bayern can be taken off the table, the chances of CHO putting pen to paper on a new deal certainly increase. As an added bonus, Bayern signing Sané would also mean that we wouldn’t have to deal with him whenever we play Manchester City! It’s a win-win-win! DO IT!
