It’s no surprise that Chelsea would be in the market for a striker so soon after signing Gonzalo Higuaín on loan from Juventus, as the overpriced veteran’s lackluster showings since arriving in January have made it quite clear that we are in desperate need of a proper solution at the position before next season starts!
With a potential transfer ban looming over Chelsea, the rumor mill has been rather quiet so far, but one name who has appeared repeatedly is Eintracht Frankfurt’s rising star Luka Jović. Unfortunately, that plane has already sailed, according to Sarri-oracle, Alfredo Pedulla. Jović already has his sight set on Real Madrid and unfortunately for us, it’s a mutual admiration.

The 21-year-old Serbian international, who was on loan from Benfica until three days ago when Eintracht activated their ridiculously low £6m buy-option, as was expected. Less expected was Jović taking the Bundesliga by storm in his this breakout season of his, as evidenced by that low fee, on which Eintracht will now make a massive profit as well — unless Jović can be convinced to put his transfer off for a year, or at least until Chelsea can appeal the transfer ban to CAS and get it suspended for this summer.
He's staying! ☺

Eintracht have exercised their option to make Luka #Jovic's deal a permanent one, the forward signing a contract until June 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣3️⃣!#Jovic2023 #SGE pic.twitter.com/3BAAcbgxCT
Unfortunately, if Real Madrid have indeed realized their need for a new striker, too — previous rumors claimed that they would not sign new players to compete with Karim Benzema — and Jović has in fact chosen the Galácticos, there is little we can do.
When the young striker was first linked with Chelsea, we imagined he could form an excellent partnership with a certain Eden Hazard. Perhaps he will get to that after all, just not in a blue shirt...
