But claims to not have any inside knowledge

Zinedine Zidane’s return to Real Madrid as manager might have done wonders for their prospects of getting Eden Hazard from Chelsea in the summer. But for former Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who went to Santiago Bernabéu last year, that has not been the case.

Despite having his once uncontested status as Real Madrid’s starter now at risk given Zidane’s preference for Keylor Navas, he still wants to see his favorite club succeed. And so he keeps courting Eden Hazard at every chance he gets.

“[Hazard] is one of my best friends in football. I do not know if he’s going to sign for Real Madrid, nor do I know if the club wants him.”

“For me he’s one of the best of the world and as a friend I would like him to be here.”

This is not too different from what he said to the media only one month ago when inquired on similar questions regarding Hazard’s chances to move to Real Madrid. He may claim he has no “influence” in anything, but we should not be surprised when we are told otherwise if the move takes place.
