According to a report from the Independent, Serie A leaders Inter Milan are so keen on bringing Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri back to Italy, that they are readying a £25m offer for him in the upcoming transfer window.
Previous reports indicated that while Inter were potentially interested in both of our left backs, head coach Antonio Conte was prioritizing Marcos Alonso over Emerson, probably due to his prior association with the Chelsea wing-back.
While Alonso looks more suited for Conte’s usual 3-5-2 scheme, he is also the one with a bigger contract and a more expensive price tag (set at approximately £35m). So just like at Chelsea, Conte might have to settle for the discount Emerson option.
All that said, Emerson’s exit will likely depend on Chelsea being able to secure a replacement left-back from the winter transfer window. That seems quite unlikely (unless Reece James or Tariq Lamptey can suddenly switch feet). Leicester City, who are currently battling for a top four spot alongside Chelsea are far from inclined on losing our primary transfer target, Ben Chilwell.
