Christmas brought renewed hope at Chelsea, with a 2-0 win against Spurs perfectly poised as a turning point. It also brought new Olivier Giroud rumors, with the striker linked to Glasgow Rangers, who had reportedly made contact with the third choice striker.
Today, on Boxing Day, hopes were dashed in both cases. Like getting a toothbrush and some new socks from Santa Claus.
Chelsea lost at home to relegation-threatened opposition, again, while the Giroud rumors were played down by his potential suitors, again. Here’s Rangers head coach Steven Gerrard, talking after his team’s 1-0 win over Kilmarnock kept pace with Celtic in the Scottish Premier League title race.
”I don’t know anything about it, to be honest. If someone knows something about it, give them my number. That’s the first I’ve heard of it. He’s a good player, though.”
