No shortage of suitors

The list of teams potentially interested in acquiring Olivier Giroud has grown by a couple over Christmas, as OGC Nice and Glasgow Rangers join the likes of Inter Milan, AC Milan, Atlético Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, and Girondins de Bordeaux.

Nice, who were rumored to be interested back in the summer as well, were brought back into the picture by Le 10 Sport (via Sport Witness), who aren’t the best source when it comes to transfer rumors, but we might as well mention it since they downplay their own rumor immediately. Chasing the Sun around the Côte d’Azur is apparently not a priority yet for the 33-year-old Giroud.

Far less sunny but possibly more likely destination could be Glasgow. L’Equipe (via Daily Record) claim that Rangers have made contact with Giroud (or at least his representatives) as they look to supplement their options at center forward, which currently consist of young Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos and an ancient Jermain Defoe, on loan from AFC Bournemouth. Rangers are just 5 points behind Celtic with a game in hand at the moment, and while both Morelos and Defoe has scored 11 league goals already this season, apparently the Gerrard-led Gers remain interested in Giroud as well.

Giroud recently admitted that it will be very hard for him to stay at Chelsea beyond January, and it certainly would be surprising if he didn’t end up leaving in search of some playing time ahead of Euro 2020.
