Leicester City ‘categorically’ rule out January sales, including Ben Chilwell to Chelsea

Obvious news is obvious

In a bit of most obvious development, high-flying Leicester City have “categorically” ruled out selling any of their excellent players who have made them the only potential challenger left to ruin Liverpool’s long-overdue Premier League title-party.

In what is headlined as a “blow to Chelsea” but is more likely just a blow to the rumor mill, that stance obviously includes left back Ben Chilwell, who’s been repeatedly linked with the Blues and most of the other big teams who could use an upgrade at left back — which basically includes anyone not named Liverpool.

“There’ll be no-one leaving in January. Categorically. I’m sure if we speak (to the hierarchy), they will have the same message. [...] It’s very clear we want to keep this squad together. We want to ensure they stay around beyond January.”

-Brendan Rodgers; source: Evening Standard

Chilwell has over 4.5 years left on the contract he signed a little over 12 months ago, so there’s absolutely no rush or pressure for Leicester to sell.

Let’s revisit this situation in the summer, shall we? Emerson and Azpilicueta can handle things adequately enough until then.

P.S.: How ironic/fantastic would it be if it were Rodgers (former Chelsea youth coach Rodgers!) who ruined Liverpool’s season in the end? Let’s make that happen please.
