Reports of Chelsea negotiating a new contract with young Tammy Abraham date back to at least last month, if not the month prior, but it sounds like we’re making steady progress and getting close to a final agreement for an extension.
According to Fabrizio Romano, who’s been keeping an eye on the situation from Italy for some reason as well, Chelsea are “more than confident” in this pursuit. In fact, the extension is “totally confirmed” ... minus the part where it’s not yet confirmed as it hasn’t been officially announced.

Notably, Fabrizio’s trademark “Here we go!” was not at the end of the tweet, which is known to be the football equivalent of an ISO 9000 seal of approval. Still, we can trust that things are close with the Premier League’s joint top goal-scorer.
Chelsea have already tied down Callum Hudson-Odoi, Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Billy Gilmour, among many others, to new contracts since the summer. We still need to do the same for Fikayo Tomori, Tammy Abraham and Reece James especially as Tomori’s contract is set to expire in 2021 (Tammy and Reece are good through 2022, technically, but still on just initial terms).
We need to get all these done as soon as possible.
