Sevilla want Álvaro Morata

A new suitor for the Spaniard

According to local newspaper Estadio Deportivo, Sevilla have appeared as brand new suitors for Chelsea striker Álvaro Morata.

While AC Milan bust André Silva has found himself in a redemption tour with 8 goals in 16 La Liga matches this season for Sevilla, they are still seeking another striker. Their intention is to bring a top shelf name from a top shelf club who has not had a good season thus far. And Morata fits the bill perfectly for them.

The arrangement would most likely be a six-month loan deal with an option to buy by the end of the 2018-19 season. However, there are obstacles that might be insuperable for Sevilla to overcome in their path to take Morata away from the Bridge.

First, there is the financial aspect. Morata arrived at the Bridge on a reported £140,000 per week paycheck, which is far more than what the Spaniards can sup simply pay part of his wages.

Secondly, there is Chelsea’s squad depth. Even if Morata is not Maurizio Sarri’s preferred centre-forward, he is only one of the two natural players in the position in our first-team group at the moment. They would have a long way to go to convince Chelsea that they can let the Spaniard join Sevilla this winter.

Still, their sporting director Joaquín Caparrós is confident that a deal for Morata can be arranged.

“We are working on many names. The important thing is that the player wants to come to Sevilla.”

Now, it is time for them to convince Chelsea.
