Chelsea striker Álvaro Morata is fast approaching the beginning of a new start in his career, as he is set to join Atlético Madrid on a loan deal. He travelled to Spain last night and this morning, headed straight to a clinic in Madrid to take his medical for his new club.

Unsurprisingly, no problems have been found in the exams.

Now Morata and Atlético only need Chelsea’s green light to complete the deal. Although this also hinges on AS Monaco completing a loan deal for Atlético’s Gelson Martins, whose switch to France should enable the Spaniards to fit Morata in their wage bill.
The goal-shy Atlético, who scored 24 goals less than Barcelona’s 56 in La Liga this season with a one-match advantage over the Catalans, will be hoping Morata is the man to add potency to their attack. While Morata’s hopes are basically the same, as he probably expects to do well enough to convince Atlético to activate the €50 million buying option included in his loan contract.
