Danny Drinkwater’s Chelsea “outcast” status is in no danger of changing anytime soon it would appear, as according to the Evening Standard, there have been no “firm offers” made for the midfielder. A “few inquiries” aside, it’s been all quiet on the Tenacious Double D front.
#cfc have yet to receive any firm offers for #Drinkwater. Just a few inquiries made, but nothing of note. More here: https://t.co/qBNmeB3ths

The lack of interest in the former Leicester City midfielder surely has as much to do with his hefty wages as with his lack of game time at Chelsea in the last 18 months, though neither factor is helping, assuredly.
Drinkwater’s sole appearance for Chelsea this season was a 30-minute cameo in the Community Shield back in August. Since then, the £35 million signing has only been seen in training, as head coach Maurizio Sarri admitted he was not a fit for his plans.
“I think the situation is that Drinkwater for me is not suitable for a midfield with two other midfielders. I told him two months ago what I think.”

Drinkwater had already been frustrated with life at Chelsea after how the previous season went and that certainly would not have improved in the slightest since.
Alas, the same goes for the club. It remains a baffling decision to spend more money on Drinkwater than on his former teammate and best midfielder N’Golo Kanté. Drinkwater’s time at Chelsea has been a net negative for all parties involved and the faster we can resolve it, the better for everyone.
