All eyes on him

According to reports emerging over the past 24 hours, Aaron Ramsey is set to leave Arsenal after almost 11 years with the team. The club have withdrawn a four-year deal that was on offer and seemingly have resigned themselves to losing the Wales international.

Arsenal will hope to cash in on Ramsey in January rather than allow him to leave for free either in the summer or on a Bosman, but Ramsey himself apparently isn’t too keen on doing that. He knows that if he leaves for free, he can maximize his own financial windfall.

Chelsea, who were reportedly interested in Ramsey in the summer before bringing in Mateo Kovačić on loan from Real Madrid, are listed as one of the clubs monitoring the situation. The Blues are joined by Premier League rivals Manchester United, and Italian juggernauts Juventus.

Ramsey has been a great attacking asset for Arsenal during the Wenger era, and he’s remained so at the start of Unai Emery’s tenure as well. If that long-term relationship is truly ending, Chelsea could perhaps sniff out a good deal for a useful player. He might even turn out better than Danny Drinkwater!
