Chelsea linked with PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot and his expiring contract

But would he get the minutes he wants in London?

Adrien Rabiot’s contract at PSG is set to expire at the end of the season. Thus, rumors!

Rabiot has made 200 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain over the past five seasons, an impressive amount considering he is just 23 years old, but he’s reportedly still displeased with the inconsistent way those appearances are coming about. Call it the Willian syndrome: some starts, some subs, all rotation. So he’s apparently put himself on the market.

Whether or not that’s how it actually plays out remains to be seen. Rabiot has started and finished all five of PSG’s matches this season and coach Thomas Tuchel said this week it’s important for PSG to have players like him at the club.

That never stopped a good rumor before, though. As long as Rabiot remains unsigned, he’ll be linked with top clubs. Inevitably, Chelsea are one of them, along with the likes of Manchester City and Barcelona.

On the plus side, Rabiot is composed on the ball and a good passer. On the negative side, it’s not exactly easy to break into Chelsea’s overcrowded midfield these days either.

Even if Danny Drinkwater and Cesc Fabregas leave this summer, there are still Jorginho, Mateo Kovačić, N’Golo Kanté, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ross Barkley and maybe even Ethan Ampadu vying for playing time.

If Rabiot was, in fact, displeased with his minutes in Paris, it’s hard to see how he’d be any happier in London.
