Bakayoko linked with a loan move to AC Milan

There could be a glut of midfielders at Chelsea, making at least one surplus to requirements

Chelsea v Manchester United - The Emirates FA Cup Final

According to reports in the Italian media, AC Milan have made an approach for Tiémoué Bakayoko.

The updates by Di Marzio and Angelo Mangiante state that as most deals in Italy go, Milan would like this transfer to also be that of a loan with an option to buy.

Bakayoko’s departure looked more and more likely after enjoying a rather mediocre debut season at Stamford Bridge. The writing’s been on the wall, despite reports about his desire to stay at the London club.

However, the reported incoming loan transfer of Mateo Kovacic from Real Madrid may have been the decisive factor. With the signing of Jorginho already pushing Bakayoko down the pecking order, the incoming transfer of highly talented Kovacic may have just decimated whatever chance Bakayoko had at gaining the starting berth under Maurizio Sarri.

Of course, all this depends on Kovacic’s transfer which isn’t done yet however it seems unlikely that Bakayoko, who is starting tonight’s friendly against Lyon, will be at Stamford Bridge by the end of this transfer window.
