Official: Kylian Hazard joins Cercle Bruges on loan from Chelsea

Returning to his home country

Last summer, Eden’s little brother Kylian joined Chelsea’s development squad after a two-year, injury-hit stay with Hungarian side Újpest. Kylian joined Chelsea to help him recover his fitness and make his brother happy, but at 23, he needs to cultivate his own career as well. To that end, he’s joined Cercle Bruges on loan for the season.

It is unclear at the moment if he extended his expiring Chelsea contract as well, or not.

Cercle Bruges won Belgium’s top level three times in their 119-year history, but they are far from their most glorious days. Last year, they were saved from financial trouble by Ligue 1 club AS Monaco, whose partnership became a take-over. They now hold a majority stake in the club, and have brought in no less than 10 loanees from Monaco.

Expectations are that these loanees will take the lion’s share of minutes, but hopefully young Hazard will be able to take some of them.

Good luck, Kylian!
