For most of us, the transfer window is a long-forgotten memory, but for most of Europe, it’s still a consideration. In fact, for most of them it’s Transfer Deadline Day, which is normally chaos and madness, but for us it should just mean maybe a couple more loans to sign off on.
Of course, those loans could still be noteworthy, especially if they involve Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Charly Musonda, Lucas Piazon, or Tammy Abraham. It’s the latter who’s currently linked with the most interesting move, to Ligue 1 side Girondins de Bordeaux.
It’s been a dramatic summer in wine country, with former Blue Gus Poyet throwing a tantrum and getting suspended just a few weeks ago by management, then his replacement, Thierry Henry, backing out at the last moment. Under interim management, they’ve still managed to make it into the Europa League group stage, but they still haven’t addressed Poyet’s initial complaint: squad depth at striker.
So, Tammy Abraham? He’s said he wants to stay and the club want him to stay until at least January as well. But he could be a good fit in Ligue 1 ... perhaps even a better fit. Bordeaux haven’t had any consistent goalscoring for the last decade (since they last won the league), and last year’s leading scorer, Malcom, who isn’t even a striker, has been sold to Barcelona.
The fluid situation at the head coaching position is a concern, but surely they’ll sort that out sooner rather than later, too.
Pour Tammy Abraham :
