According to the latest transfer roundup by Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea have enquired about the possibility of signing their Real Madrid’s highly promising wantaway midfielder Mateo Kovacic.
Il Chelsea ha chiesto Kovacic al Real Madrid.
Although not a lot of information is available except that one line, Chelsea looking to add a deeper-lying midfielder would be a welcome development. Jean Michael Seri has been rumored, but nothing solid has materialized there. Aleksandr Golovin may or may not be incoming, but he’s more of an attacking force than a controlling one, and in that regard, we could definitely do a lot worse than Kovacic.
Kovacic, is a versatile midfielder capable of playing anywhere in central midfield, although he works best while playing from deep. He’s not as creative as Fabregas or as destructive as Kante; his strength lies in his great dribbling and ability to turn any move into attack in an instant while still having good vision and a decent number of key passes per 90 minutes.
100% - Mateo Kovacic (55 passes) attempted at least 13 more passes than any other player in the first half of Iceland v Croatia and completed all 55 of those. Comfort.

It’s unclear what Real Madrid’s response may have been to the nquiry, but if we’re really looking to sign Kovacic, chances are it’s going to be an uphill battle. Real have shown no signs of allowing him to leave, despite his recent interview in which he claimed that moving away from Real Madrid would be the best option for his career.
“I want to play more and the best thing is to leave Madrid ”. “I love football and being on the turf, I want the opportunity to be a starter on another team, if I do not play ... I’m not happy”.
