It’s unlikely to be the final word in the Song of Hazard and Real — is any word ever final in the rumor mill? — but a major Madridista outlet is reporting that Real Madrid have “ruled out” signing Eden Hazard.
According to Diario AS, the Champions League masters are set to give Isco an even larger role than last season instead (Cristiano Ronaldo leaving will necessitate it, to be sure). That also fits with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez’s recently declared, distinctly non-galactico direction for the club, too, with a brand new emphasis on youth and the stars of tomorrow (such as Vinícius Jr).
Eden Hazard is neither young (in football terms) nor a star of tomorrow. He’s in his prime and a star of today.
Now we just need him to sign his new Chelsea contract, to make him the highest paid player in Chelsea history, while possibly giving him the captain’s armband. Legendary status awaits him at Stamford Bridge.
