Will third time be the charm for Barça?

UPDATE: Gerardo Romero, considered to be a very well-connected reporter with Barcelona, confirms that Willian is the current top priority option for the club to reinforce their attack and that talks have been ongoing for weeks.

PREVIOUSLY:

With just 20 days left in the Premier League’s summer transfer window, Chelsea are standing firm on not letting Eden Hazard go to Real Madrid. His right wing companion Willian, however, is more expendable.

Madrid’s main opponents, Barcelona, apparently remain very keen on bringing the Brazilian to Camp Nou. They have already made two bids for Willian, both of which have been rebuffed by the Blues. And today, they came forward with a third.

Perhaps third time will be the charm for them?

As per Sky’s report, the bid is “in excess of £55m”, which would be a marginal increase on the previously reported £50-53m bid. It still falls short of the the £70m asking price set by Chelsea, which was reported by the Daily Mail eight days ago, though Barca have supposedly been working on attracting/tapping up Willian for the last three months.

The real question remains why haven’t Chelsea accepted any of these bids yet? Are they not real? Are we that silly? Are we waiting to sign a replacement? Either way, this seems like a no-brainer for the club to make an older and more importantly wantaway player happy and get paid handsomely for it.

Do it.
