Another year, another Arturo Vidal-to-Chelsea link

Several years too late

Some human stories, passed down by generations and generations of bipeds across this blue planet of ours have stood the test of time, and will probably do so for millenia to come. Arturo Vidal-to-Chelsea isn’t one of those stories, but as far as transfer rumors are concerned, those most ethereal and empty of human stories, it might as well be.

At age 31, Vidal was having a pretty good season for Bayern, before getting hit with thigh and knee issues in March, putting a premature end to his year. According to German newspaper Bild (via ESPN Brasil), that makes him expendable, especially as Bayern already have a fresh, young, eager substitute in former Schalke 04 midfielder Leon Goretzka.

The clubs listed in acquiring Vidal three years too late are Chelsea (obviously), Manchester United, Napoli, and Atlético Madrid, who are supposedly the favorites.

Age and cost aside, Vidal would be a great player to add to any midfield if his knee problems weren’t of the career-breaking kind. But since we cannot ignore those factors, not his injuries, this rumor will hopefully go the way of all the other previous Vidal rumors over the years.
