If you’ve been wondering which player might be making way for potential summer signing Daniele Rugani, wonder no more! Apparently, it just might be the captain himself, Gary Cahill!
According to Simon Johnson of the Evening Standard, the 6.5-year Chelsea veteran is “considering” his future at the club, with his playing time already trending down last season and the need for center backs at the club expecte to do the same. Sarri’s usual system prefers just two of them in a back-four instead of three in Conte’s back-three. While Azpilicueta might switch back to right full back, the returning Kurt Zouma and the potentially incoming big-money signing Rugani could reduce Cahill’s minutes even further.

Cahill will apparently seek clarification once he returns from post-World Cup vacation, but at 32 years old and with just one year left on his contract, a potential transfer would hardly be surprising. If Cahill were to leave, he’d leave as one of the most decorated players of all time.
