It has been a bit tough to wrap my head around the idea that Chelsea, despite the lack of a football director and the mess they have gotten into over their managerial situation, are about to complete such a good move, and before the final day of the window, even!
After flying in to town yesterday, Jorginho has completed his medical for Chelsea. We are now one step closer to seeing the Napoli midfielder become a former Napoli midfielder by putting pen to paper and shaking Marina Granovskaia’s hand in her first ceremonial appearance this summer. Hooray!

When the deal is complete, Jorginho will become Chelsea’s best signing in two years, since the swoop for N’Golo Kanté in 2016. The even years tend to make for better transfer windows than the odd ones, maybe? To make it all sweeter, it will have been done while out-muscling champions Manchester City and their massive wealth.
P.S.: Maurizio Sarri has signed his paperwork as well, apparently, so an announcement — double announcement or TRIPLE announcement (with Zola) is probably imminent. (Ed. note: so maybe the next 48 hours)
